To earn more revenue, it should be in an imaginative way. Rising of the web hosting company is a latent undertaking to be countenanced with many disputes. There should be customer service executive that has to take the responsibility of the customer and to solve the queries of the customer. 24/7 customer support is very important. I do agree with Rick's list of features and points.

Must have MySQL. To be a decent Windows provider, it should have MSSQL, IMO.
ASP.Net functionality is also a bonus.

Before purchasing a web hosting see all the features, space, bandwidhts, email ids, support and price. For more information you can read reviews about the company.

A good start for your list would be reliability, support, features and price. Can't be more specific without knowing exactly what you're looking to host.

If you have to ask then I'm guessing your website isn't advanced enough to need anything beyond any hosts basic plan. If you have more then one website you want up (have more then one domain) then you will want to double check to see if the plan allows for more domains then 1. You normally have to upgrade to a better plan for this but it depends on which host you go through.

Do you have any specific needs? I find a lot of shared hosters are cramming way to many accounts on servers, so the stats look great on paper but the cpu and memory is lacking.

all the basic plans should suite what you need. But to avoid unecessary costs, i would start from a basic package and move up from there.

Agreed, start with the basics and move up from there. Another good thing to look for at first is a money back guarantee as most hosts offer a 30 day one, because if that host is a lemon get your money back and move on.

That depends on what you need. A simple html site won't need anything apart from from the hosting and ftp to upload your site.
