Or the connection string is incorrect.

    Best wishes.

$1 plan on a windows host?

Impossible I say unless you are overloading like crazy... We spend a lot on hardware and software for ours and if we hosted $1 accounts, we'd be broke in no time.

Good luck with the $1 plans, if I were looking, Cartika or HandNetworks would probably be my choice outside of my company.

    Cheers!

    Thanks for the confirmation.

    You're welcome!

That sounds like the SQL Server is down

Thanks for you concern. However the database is pointing to my old hosting company as I am still not ready with the refurnishing of website. I am working on a sub-domain with Softsyshosting and using their database which is working *Perfectly* and their SQL Server is *NOT* down.

    Thanks,

    Curtis

Thanks for the confirmation. The URL you provided gives an error:

    Server Error in '/' Application.
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

    Hi

for $1 you cant expect to have too much of a good service.

You are indeed mistaken. Please note that $1 are the plans that are used by customers who just have a static website without database support.

Also, for clarification, we host no more than 200 websites on any of our servers which are 4 * 2.8 GHz Xeon processors + 4GB RAM and we maintain separate servers for websites, sql server and emails.

    Best regards,

What would be the most discussed/popular (and in turn reliable?) host on WHT. Is SoftSys a reliable one, I keep seeing them popping up everywhere, but doesn't seem to make an impression with $1 plans!

    Hi

for $1 you cant expect to have too much of a good service.

IE lets say the server cost the company $3k to buy then colo is approx $200 month. to make the money back on that server they are likely to be filling up that machine with many accounts to make the money back that it cost.

I have been keenly following wht and searching for the exact same thing and I had shortlisted a list of hosts with whom I interacted over past few days. I found the technical team at softsyshosting to be very knowledgeable as they were able to answer each of my queries. Hence, I have decided to sign up with the ms sql plan. Mind you the $1 plan does not come with ms sql support. I will keep you updated about my experience with softsyshosting after testing them thoroughly.

What domain are you hosting with them?
