I want to think I read in a prior posting you could download a cert update for netscape to make it "see" these certs.
I went looking on the web, but haven't found it yet...

Well, it's not so much that the cert *doesn't work* with netscape. It's that Netscape didn't include that cert as "trusted". The cert works just fine with Netscape...IF the user chooses to trust it.

I went to freessl and the one affiliated with OpenSRS/Tucows earlier. Niether appear to be backed by any fraud protection. With Equifax, (I believe) you are backed by a $100,000.00 fraud protection from CityGroup. And if you read the ToS from Thwate, you will find that any and all disputes are to be handled by the court system of thier country (South/West Africa) To some, that may not be that big of a deal. Just remember, sometimes you do get what you pay for
