Colour Schemes
Hey,
I have been reading some posts on here about colours, some people say that bright colours work great whilst others say that you should make the the colour of your background so it looks part of the site. On this site, it is the bright version.
Which do you find best?

Testing previously done at supermarkets had revealed that the same product could pull more sales from just changing the colors of the label. What were these colors? Red and yellow! The combination of these two colors has an immediate impact on the person who sees them. They make your eyes stop and focus. They pull your eyes right to that part of the page. They grab your attention! I'm not sure exactly why the combination of red and yellow does this, but it does. On one of my sites, I changed my Adsense ads to a bright red border and a yellow background with black text and URL.
And then google say
Try using custom colour combinations for your ad units. This allows you to ensure that the text, background, and border colours of your ads complement your website. You can choose from a wide variety of colours to create your own custom colour palettes, or select from over 20 pre-defined combinations. When using colour palettes, we recommend making:
The background colour of the ad the same as or similar to the background colour of your page.
The border of the ad a colour that is prominent on your page.
The title of the ad a colour that is similar to the text on your page.
The URL of the ad a color similar to other link colors on your page.

I think that if the blending is effective and you actually have a good number of links on your page, the camoflauge is the best way to go.

I would love to read more about the psychology of color. At one time I read about difference in using red vs blue when marketing to the sexes. One marketing color is used for marketiing to males, another to females.
When it comes to adsense blending to overall feel of page can be accomplished in many ways. I recently saw a page with white background and a few bright text boxes. Suspect a bright adsense ad would do well with this site, with other sites a bright box would look out of place. I think this is something with which you would have to experiment. In the end you want a nice looking page. Everyone advocates trying several color schemes and positions for ads to ee what works best for your audience.
Good luck,
Shannon
