Default Does Google Search negatively impact Adsense?

I have placed the Google Search box on a few pages and Adsense ads on many more pages. I am wondering if there is a negative impact to the ads by having the search box competing with it since search pay outs are much lower than content payouts.

Have any of you noticed measurable impact by having a Google search box compete with Adsense on the same page?

They aren't really competing.. the search box is for searching, and the ads are sponsored links. Just view the search as you would a regular search box, without your publisher ID attached. Many users don't even know it even has the remotist possibility of giving you money

I look at each page as having a number of exists. Ads are a revenue generating exit. Search is a lower revenue generating exit. I like to give my visitors some good content and a few good exits. CFNewbie.com does well with the hosting page and tutorials that end the page with ads.

I was just wondering if my ad click through rate would go down if visitors had another option. I wonder if Ad clickers are the same people as search box people.

I find that unless its site search, you usually wont get many searches. People come to your site for its content, and not for the search box. Its hard to predict if it will negitivly impact your ad CTR, but when I put up a search box on my site, it didn't. I didn't make any money off it though.. nobody was insterested in searching, and the few people there where didn't click the sponsored listings.

Yes, I find the ads are far better revenue generators than the Search. But the search is a nice feature standing alone...then add the possibility of revenue...why not try them both?

Play around a bit and watch your stats.

I agree with Josh. If I want to do a search, I go to Google, why would I do it on your site?

I just put the search box on my site yesterday. Only 4 impressions today so it doesn't look like it is going to be much good. Has anyone had success with Adsense for search?

I also wonder what this line actually means?!
"Revenue from AdSense for search may be offset at the end of the month by costs associated with performing searches"

There are cases where a visitor comes to my site and sees what he wants to see and then either clicks on an ad or may continue his search by using my Google search or he may go to Google. I have run the search on a few sites and the searches are low and payouts are much lower than ads. I doubt that anyone has done a conclusive study as to whether Google Search cannibilizes Google Adsense but I thought I'd ask.

I run it and make a little bit off of it XX a month compared to xxx for adsense

when someone shows up they they are either going to click through and buy or not

If not, I might as well give them an exit option that has the potential to put a few cents in my pocket every time it's used.

FWIW, I didn't notice any change in my AdSense when I put the search in there as well.

More of a convenience thing. If the visitor is already on your site...the possibility is there for revenue. The visitor may find it a convenience to use the Google search from your site.
