Metal Gear Next?
Seriously...
The hype they create is unbelievable.

Why wouldn't fans of the series be excited for another Metal Gear?

Metal Gear Next?
Just because I'm a fan of the series doesn't mean I have to be excited for another outing.
But, so as to better elaborate, I'm not excited since the last game wasn't the great experience I was looking for. Yes, it was fun but nothing compared to all the hype it got. I think the only game in the series that lived up to its hype was MGS3. It had solid gameplay, the story rarely got in the way, and I felt like I really experienced something wonderful and was eager to head back in right away. I still find myself going back to it.
MGS4 had me at first. That's why I went through all the different difficulty modes. However, the more I played, the more I realize how outdated and rather sloppy a lot of it was. The heavily publicized graphics have poor textures and iffy animation. The actual gamplay seemed limiting (compared to other current games) because Snake couldn't climb over an obstacle because it was chest high (and I'm not even asking for Assassin's Creed style climbing) which was rather silly. The story segments (cutscenes and codec calls) were at their most obnoxious. I didn't skip those cos I wanted to know what the hell was going on but on subsequent playthroughs I find myself skipping all the useless "intel" and endless rambling from the secondary characters. Don't get me started on the sloppy controls during the final boss fight.
I do love the audio. That was fantastic. And I don't deny the game is fun (to a point). It's just not great. I'll play the game from time to time but it's not a game that immediately comes to mind when I happen to be in the mood to play a game.

Metal Gear Next?
Because the story is tired.
It used to be about a badass Solid Snake from the 80s just ruining people's shit, now it's a three hour video diatribe about how nuclear weapons are bad. Oh, and how your favorite character from the series is a busted up old bastard from years of hard living.

Metal Gear Next?
Oh, and while I loved the first Playstation game, (and Nintendo, though I could never beat the bastard) they should really seek to revolutionize the gameplay a bit, because it too is tired, becoming boring and outdated while titles I used to hate (CoD) are becoming the standard of awesomeness.

If you would permit me, I would like to happily co-sign both these statements.

Metal Gear Online is my favorite multiplayer game, I will gladly shell out a small fortune for a new installment if it comes with the online multiplayer shooter.

So now there's a new countdown, starting at 120 hours. Behind the countdown flashes the symbols "5 @ e 3" or "5@E3." On the other hand, knowing Kojima, that has an equal chance of not meaning MGS5 will be debuted at E3.

I loved 4 and I typically hate stealth games. I definitely want a new Metal Gear, but hopefully in a bit different direction. Not sure what else they can do with Snake after 4.

I've heard of the Sunny theory, but the Olga theory you just mentioned makes a lot of sense. Maybe it starts off as Olga, and ends with Raiden saving Sunny.
