Default Has Sony Officially Lost this Generation?

I'm glad the guy that worked on the graphically intensive Guitar Hero and Rock Band games is here to tell us the PS3 is inferior. I just hope the developer of N+ is up next to tell us why a PS3 version was impossible.

As far as telling us games developed for 360 will not be as good on PS3, we have enough examples of that to have figured it out by now.

There are some good points in the article, but there's more to games than great graphics, and even if the PS3 could never graphically match the 360 doesn't mean it can't have great exclusives.

There are going to be very few people that are going to notice that extra second of load, or that slight variation in graphics. I have seen nothing as of yet that I can see that will say that either system is more superior in graphics. The topic of graphics is mostly an over inflated fanboy argument. How about instead of bashing very slightly worse graphics, you actually just play the game for fun. What ever happened to that?

Do these people have magnifying glasses out when they play so they have something to bash another system about?

a lot of people own N*Sync records .... that doesn't make em good
(first place/#1 chart position does not equal quality [better than #2 or lower] in my book)

Not sure what this has to do with anything, since we're talking about "winning" the console war (or I guess the generation), and I think that means volume, not quality.

As far as cross-platform titles go: if you own both consoles, something or other will sway you to buy these games for one, but rarely both. So a "lackluster" port to the PS3 can sway someone to the 360 camp (or vice versa). In my case, I usually choose the 360 port because of achievements, controller, Xbox Live, exclusive downloadable content, and/or superiority of the port (though it can go either way... most fighting games I get for the PS3 just because I have fighting sticks for that console). Oh, also the really large hard drive installs that are mandatory for most games on the PS3, presumably because it takes much longer for the laser to traverse the blu-ray disc, though that's less of an issue once you upgrade your drive.

But then, they didn't choose Blu because it would actually benefit gaming, did they? I have yet to see any indication that the new format has helped games on the system.

If we want a less controversial thread, how about "Has Sony Officially Lost this handheld generation." I'd have a hard time believing there are many backers of the PSP over the DS...

Actually, just wanted an excuse to bump this since the mods are apparently back at work, and can move this to "cake talk" where it belongs...

Good point. Maybe MGS4, but otherwise, I can't think of any PS3 game that really benefitted from a BR release. Oh yeah, and the new Watchmen BD deluxe release will have the two previously download-only PS3 games on them, so there's that.

While there's no question that the PSP lost that battle, I much prefer it for myself over my DSi. The screen is brighter and sharper. I love being able to stop playing a game and start watching a movie. The best games on the PSP are really good. I find games on both systems pretty difficult to control, though.

OP is way off base with his original post. I don't know how you can call this gen over when the PS3 has only been on the shelves for 2 and half years. Hell any judgements I make on the PS3 will wait till after God of War 3 and Gran Turismo 5 come out.

It's only fair to do that since Microsoft has already launched their system selling titles for this gen with Halo 4 and GOW2.

Either way, true gamers shouldn't give a shit about console bashing and leave that to the fanboys. I've enjoyed both my 360 and PS3 equally this gen with most of my online gaming done on the 360 and all my single player games on the PS3.

Exactly. Forza 2 is just as good or better, IMO.

Default Has Sony Officially Lost this Generation?

please list out instead of just saying "etc"

you say the 360 does everything right

    - online - PS3 has and it is free ... I have not had any major issues with playing a game online or with lag .... PS3 also has a built in web browser as well as Wi Fi
    - quality exclusives - once again I can provide the long list of these for the PS3
    - Netflix - I don't know what is offered here but the PS3 is a great media hub with streaming capabilities .... I believe Sony also offers movie downloads via the PSN
    - XBLA - Sony offers plenty of great "arcade" titles via their Playstation Store/PSN

if I am to assume you are refering to "a system without games" as the PS3
an extensive list of cross platform games can be listed as well as those quality exclusives .... just because you have only owned Resistance does not make your claim true

-Assuming you haven't played the 360 online, I will say the $2.50-$3.00/month you spend for XBL is well worth the money. Free doesn't make PSN better, it makes it cheaper. My 360 is wireless, just not out of the box.
-Quality exclusives, but no real system seller. People think Wii=Mario, 360=Halo, PS3=???
-Netflix, Movie downloads, videos, TV, game demos & movies. I'm a KISS fan and right now they have like 24 KISS videos available (sweet!)
-I honestly haven't checked the PSN for a while. Manuevering through the PS menus is clunky and confusing. I honestly gave up on it. I did, however, pick up Midevil from the PSN to relive some old school PS memories, but after 5 minutes I quit because the graphics were unbearable and the game wasn't like I remembered it.

My last sentence was just a summary of what people seem to be complaining about, including myself. I'm just saying what I feel, each system has it's own issues this generation and I think it may hurt the next gen consoles. People are crying for a good PS3 exclusive, just like the post that I quoted above...'God of War & Turismo 5 will be system sellers, finally!!'. Believe me, I would LOVE to use my PS3 more for gaming. Cross-platform games will always go to the 360 for me, so it will take an awesome exclusive to get me, and many others, to purchase a PS3 game.
