Finally Played Resident Evil 4 This Weekend!
I am so backlogged on games that I finally decided to crack open this classic and play through it before touching RE5.
I loaded the game into my PS3, and was immediately disappointed. The game display appeared in a small square. Thankfully, I found a PS3 setting that changed it to full screen.
Graphically, the game still is impressive. I love the dead woods environment. It feels so moody, dark yet familiar. Then I tried to play the darn game. Unbelievable controls. I could barely mange to move around, much less stop, aim my gun and shoot. I have to hit like 3 buttons at the same time just to pull off a gunshoot. I kept dying quickly simply because the controls are so bad.
Is this just a PS3 issue, or was the PS2 version just as bad? Any tips for getting used to these wacked out controls?

That's my problem with the resident evil series. It's like you're controlling a tank.

This game should only be played on the Wii.
That said, I don't recall the Gamecube controls being all that nebulous.

I could never get the hang of aiming a crosshair on the PS2 pad.
That said, the controls for RE4 on the PS2 were still very useable. The controls were a little heavy but worlds better than the first slew of RE games.

Pretty much. Other than the recent purchase of Okami, RE4 is the only other Wii game i have adn I'll never part with it. RE4(Wii) was the first RE game I've ever stuck with until the end because the controls were so awesome.

I just played through this for the first time on my PS3 a couple of months ago. I bought it shortly after it came out but never gave it a fair shake. I finally played through it and fell in love with it. It was tough at first, but after some trial and error, I got the hang of it. Don't give up on the controls, they're tough at first but it'll come to you. My best tip for you is that the knife is your best friend.
