But I'm Not A VPS Guru
I'm a veteran web app developer at a major US company. I have tons of experience with programming and computers in general. I have geek cred. But, I don't happen to know how to do VPS setup with WHM and control panels and such.
Now, I want to start a small biz web site. Naturally I don't want to do this on a shared server, but it doesn't merit dedicated, so VPS is the way. Cool. And, I've been around enough to at least know what Cpanel is, and I understand there are managed and unmanaged plans. Fine.
So, I get a VPS plan that offers Cpanel. I'm thinking when I login to my control panel I'll see Cpanel. Um, no. I see WHM. What's this? Eventually I learn that apparently I have to set up a domain in WHM which is then managed via Cpanel. Well, okay. Um, how to do this?
Here's the thing: I can't find any VPS provider (even managed) who is willing to either set up my one site or walk me through the process. At best I get pointed to knowledgebase articles.
I suppose I can figure all this out. But I am baffled as to why all VPS providers seem to assume that 1) you want a VPS so as to be a reseller and 2) you are a VPS guru. What about those of us who just want to run one site, but don't have VPS kung-fu? Why do you leave us fending for ourselves? Is there anybody who is willing to just give a helping hand with setting things up?
I'm still looking at hosts so if you are one, and you can help me out, here's a chance to get some business.
Any other advice much appreciated.
Thanks
